Made-to-order in a small workshop within the Greater Austin Area of Texas, the Modugno X2 Apprentice is a great starter guitar made with a straight forward design by only having 1 excellent pickup and 1 volume control, which allows the player to just plug in and go without having to hassle with a ton of controls. With this guitar, we cut costs as much as we feasibly could to provide a more budget-friendly electric guitar option.
 
The X2 Apprentice has great modern aesthetics with a unique LED pickup display, a Musiclily Dual Hot Rail pickup, chrome hardware, and a black pickguard.
 
This guitar has a maple neck and an ebonol fretboard that is made with modern and durable materials. Unlike a wooden fretboard, the ebonol fretboard requires absolutely no oiling maintenance whatsoever, it won't crack or warp from exposure to temperature and humidity fluctuations, it helps prevent the frets from moving around, and it is superior at helping keep the neck straight.
 
The vibrant LED display in the guitar's pickup is optional. The LEDs can last an impressive 30 hours on a single charge and can be conveniently recharged with the charging mount located on the back of the guitar, so there's no need to hassle with switching out any batteries. The lithium-ion battery installed in the X2 Apprentice is ethically made by EBL who don't source the cobalt used in their batteries from the cobalt mines that violate human rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Currently, about 70% of the worlds cobalt supply comes from that area, and unfortunately chances are high that there is unethically sourced cobalt in some devices that we are all using daily.
 
The Dual Hot Rail pickup installed in the X2 Apprentice has a great high end sound response and a modern appearance. The pickup is essentially a humbucker the size of a single coil pickup, so it doesn't have any humming noises that come along with what you would normally hear from a true single coil pickup. Another great feature is that the magnetized metal rails built into the pickup allow for a more consistent tone and volume output (compared to traditional pole pieces) whenever bending notes on the strings.
 
With this guitar, you have the choice of putting the pickup either in the middle or bridge position. Each postion has their own unique advantages.
Middle Position Tone: More bass; "boomy" distortion tones, "smooth/dark" clean tones
Bridge Position Tone: More treble; "clear" distortion tones, "sharp/bright" clean tones

The guitar strings on the X2 Apprentice are strung using a luthier's knot stringing technique that locks the strings into place. This honestly gives the guitar a tuning stability that's close, if not identical to what you would get out of a set of locking tuners.
